Robin Best - Manager
Robin Best runs the day to day operations of KKR Productions LLC, based in Venice, California, which has been in operation since 2001 and includes three divisions: KKR Productions, KKR Publishing and KKR Records. She manages CBS recording artists, KARMINA, and works closely with several other artists/bands in the areas of music publishing administration, jingle production, developing content for new media and non-profit related projects.
Prior to working in the entertainment industry, Robin worked as senior executive, international banker, chief financial officer, controller, treasurer, auditor and CPA. She majored in music and business, has a degree in Business Administration/Accounting from San Francisco State University (summa cum laude) and is a concert flautist.
From 1999 through 2005, Robin served as an expert and fact witness, utilizing her expertise in banking as well as accounting and finance. This work entailed research and analysis, pre-trial and trial work, testimony, analysis of defense strategies, briefing of lawyers in the court room, preparation of witnesses and preparation of trial reports.
From October 1996 through January 2000, Robin was Senior Vice President/Finance Manager of Planning and Reporting for Bank of America’s Global Corporate & Investment Bank (GCIB), in San Francisco, California. The GCIB had approximately $115 billion in total assets and included the following divisions/businesses: Leasing, U.S. and Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Commercial Real Estate Services, BA Business Credit, Global Equity Investments, Global Wholesale Operations and Global Capital Markets. Robin directly managed a staff of 33 in the preparation of monthly Executive Committee and Board reports for the various businesses, including financial statement analysis, budget variance analysis, forecasts, consolidated GCIB reporting, internal service provider analysis, annual plan, capital budgeting/planning, reporting systems conversions, project management and merger/transition management; and she had "dotted-line" responsibility for hundreds of finance personnel in finance groups around the world.
Prior to her role in GCIB, Robin was Director of Finance/CFO for Bank of America, Federal Savings Bank, headquartered in San Francisco, California. She was recruited for the job in October 1993 by Bank of America's CFO, Lewis Coleman, and was relocated by the bank from Honolulu, Hawaii, where she was EVP/Chief Financial Officer for Bank of America Hawaii, formerly Honfed Bank, Hawaii’s third largest bank. From 1985 through 1993, Robin held a number of positions at Honfed Bank, including Controller, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and EVP for Finance & Administration. Prior to her Honfed Bank tenure, she held senior positions in finance at Hitachi Europe, Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. in Munich, Germany and Coopers & Lybrand in San Francisco, California.
Robin was a member of the Institute of Financial Executives, the American Institute of CPA's and the Financial Managers Society, and she was Chairman of the Board of the Tax Foundation of Hawaii in 1993. In 1994, she was selected for a four-year term on the prestigious National Financial Institutions Accounting Committee. Robin was Board Member and Treasurer for Junior Achievement of Hawaii from 1989 through 1993. She was a two-term President of Soroptimist International of Waikiki and was Treasurer and Board Member of the Soroptimist International Founder Region from 1993 through 1995. Robin currently serves on the Venice Neighborhood Council's Emergency Preparedness Task Force, and she was commended in 2008 by the Los Angeles City Council for her significant contributions to emergency preparedness education and awareness for the Community of Venice Beach.
